Social Work and Community Development - Level 3,4,5 and 6

Social work qualification  consists of competencies that a person must achieve to enable him/her to be certified as a Social Worker. It involves managing community resources, conducting community empowerment, coordinating community project, conducting community awareness training and sensitization, carrying out advocacy and lobbying activities, carrying out crisis and disaster management, coordinating conflict resolution and management, performing home based care and support ,coordinating rehabilitation programmes, carrying out child welfare programmes, conducting case management and manage community-based groups

Social Work qualification (at different levels) comprises the units of learning, which include the following basic, common and core units of learning:

  • Employability Skills
  • Environmental Literacy
  • Occupational Safety and Health Practices

COMMON UNITS

  • Social Research Work*

  • Psycho Social Support
  • Resource Mobilization And Fund Raising

CORE UNITS

Note: Trainees in levels 3 and 4 are taught units marked * only

Duration

  • Level 6 takes 3 years
  • Level 5 takes 2 years
  • Level 4 takes 1 year
  • Level 3 takes 6 months

Assessment

The course is assessed internally and externally. Internal assessment is continuous and is conducted by the trainer who is monitored by an accredited internal verifier while external assessment is the responsibility of TVET CDACC.

Certification

  • On successful completion of a Unit of Learning, a trainee is issued with a Certificate that acknowledges the achievement of that competence. 
  • On successful completion of ALL units of learning, a trainee is awarded an ICT Technician Certificate qualification.
  • These certificates are issued by TVET CDACC in conjunction with KTVC

  • Ksh. 67,189 per year
